Robert joined chambers after successful completion of his pupillage in 2008. He works predominantly in the West Country and Wales but often travels further in connection with his practice. Prior to joining the Bar Robert lived and worked in Japan and America.
Landlord and Tenant: acts for both landlords and tenants in a wide range of disputes arising out of residential and business tenancies. Robert has a particular interest in and understanding of anti-social behaviour related cases.
Personal Injury: represents claimants and defendants in personal injury matters including employers’ liability, occupiers’ liability, credit hire, Highways Act cases, and RTAs. Regularly advises on liability and quantum and undertakes drafting work.
Common Law: undertakes advisory and court work in a range of areas including boundary disputes, consumer credit cases and contract law.
Family: practises in all areas of Family Law with a particular interest in matrimonial finance and pricate law children matters.
Motoring Law: has a detailed understanding of this area of law and specialises in defending those at risk of losing their driving licence.
Notable Cases
Colley v Stallard (2010): successfully argued that the doctrine of proprietary estoppel applied in a boundary dispute;
Cheltenham Borough Council v Marks (2010): Breach of Anti Social Behaviour Injunction, 2 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years.
